WAAP is pleased to present a previously unseen body of work by senior Vancouver-based artist, Hank Bull. This exhibition is a culmination of over three decades of artistic effort to capture the landscape around his cabin in Storm Bay, up the Sunshine Coast. The artist acknowledges these pictures were made with respect on the swiya territory of the shíshálh Nation. They were painted outdoors, mostly during the summer months, over a period of 35 years. The artist thanks Isabella Casey, Rath Art Supplies and Storm Bay people for their support and collaboration.

HANK BULL was born at Moh’kins’tsis (Calgary) and lives with gratitude on the traditional and unceded territory of the xwməθkwəy̓əm Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh Nations (Vancouver). In 1973, he joined the Western Front Society, where he explored radio art, cabaret performance, shadow theatre, video, publishing and curatorial practice. As a participant in global art networks, he collaborated on early explorations in telecommunications. He has contributed to the development of artist-directed economies of exchange and produced numerous international projects. Throughout a long career, he has continued to make art in a range of media, including painting, photography, video, music, and sound. His works are in major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Germany.
